| Can you give an advice to all aspiring
artists?
Yes. Don't come into comics with any other motive than a strong and sincere love for comics. That's all it is. I've been getting emails telling me they want to be in comics because they want to sign comics, and that they want the adulation, and the groupies, and the money, etc. I don't want to be the needle
in anyone's balloon, but comics is a very difficult job. As in VERY
difficult. If you come into comics with the motive of “creating a
name” or for the money, or the fangirls, or for the perceived glory and
all that junk that comes with any motivation aside from the love of comics,
you're DOOMED. Because as soon as you're faced with the deadlines,
the hardship and the sacrifice...the love for comics is the only thing
that's going to keep you from running and screaming out the door.
It's the love for comics that will make you stay and take it, and bear
all of it, and keep on going and keep on writing and drawing.
